Expression Live is an amazing outdoor community event that allows people to express themselves through diverse art forms including poetry, dance, painting, and music and to enjoy the artistry of others. Expression Live! is hosted and sponsored by The Bridge (www.thebridgedc.org), a multicultural, multi-generational church in Downtown Silver Spring.

The year 2008 marked the first Expression Live! Hundreds were in attendance to enjoy this fun-filled event in Downtown Silver Spring. The event continues to grow and attracted over 2,000 attendees in 2010. This year will be even more exciting, with artists from different genres and backgrounds, including R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, Jazz, Inspirational, and Acoustic music, poetry from some of the area’s best spoken word artists, and dance from various cultures. Expression Live! also includes live painting from some of the area’s finest artists as well as surprise giveaways. There will be free snacks for all and face-painting and arts and crafts for the kids. Expression Live! is truly a family event!

Each year we partner with a non-profit organization doing great work in the community. In 2010, we collected over 300 pounds of food for our non-profit partner. This year, Expression Live is partnering with Hearts and Homes for Youth (HHY), an award-winning nonprofit serving at-risk youth in Montgomery County, Maryland since 1964. The mission of HHY is to help troubled children and youth, who are abused, neglected or runaways, become independent, productive adults. To fulfill this mission, HHY provides a broad spectrum of educational, residential, independent living and mental health programs to a culturally diverse client population.
